Dangerous drugs in Saskatoon

Saskatoon Fire Department reported 37 overdoses over a 24-hour period March 5-6, and an average of 19 overdoses per day March 1-5.

Additionally, SFD have responded to over 180 overdoses in the last 10 days.

Overdoses are possibly connected to light pink or dark purple chunks sold as fentanyl (or other).

Overdoses feature delayed effects, unconsciousness, turning blue, slow to revive, incoherent after revived.

Drugs are suspected to contain benzodiazepines, which do not respond to naloxone.

There has not yet been an uptick in overdoses in Manitoba, but these deadly drugs could be coming our way.
