Visual Description: Purple chunk/pebble

Purple chunk/pebble sold as DOWN was found to contain fentanyl, fentanyl analogues and multiple types of benzodiazepine.

Benzodiazepines are sedatives that do not respond to naloxone. When combined with opioids such as fentanyl, they can increase the risk of complex overdose.

The substance was tested locally at Street Connections on June 5, detecting fentanyl and benzodiazepines. The sample was then sent to Health Canada Drug Analysis Services for confirmation.
