Drug Alert: Winnipeg — Mon. January 5, 2026

Date: Monday, January 5, 2026

Location: Winnipeg

Substance Sold As: Percocet
Visual Description: White, round tablet with “TEC” on one side and a scored line on the other

A white, round pill sold as Percocet was found to contain metonitazine, a high-potency synthetic opioid considered to be 4 times stronger than fentanyl.

Using high-potency opioids increases the risk of overdose. Naloxone can reverse the effects of nitazine, but it may take more doses to revive someone.

The pill had a marking of “TEC” on one side and a scored line on the other.

It was tested at Street Connections on Dec. 19, 2025. This local testing was inconclusive, so it was sent to Health Canada Drug Analysis Services. The results showed <1% metonitazine. This is the first time metonitazine has been detected at Street Connections.
