Location: Winnipeg
Substance Sold As: Percocet
Visual Description: White tablet with “TEC” on it
White tablet with “TEC” markings sold as PERCOCET that caused a drug poisoning was found to contain cychlorphine, a powerful synthetic opioid not approved for use in humans.
On June 18, a community member reported that it caused profound sedation and vomiting, and caused a non-fatal drug poisoning that required two doses of naloxone to reverse.
Local testing was inconclusive, so it was sent to Health Canada Drug Analysis. On June 25, results confirmed that it contained cychlorphine (N-Propionitrile Chlorphine). This is the first time that drug checking has confirmed the presence of cychlorphine in Winnipeg.
Cychlorphine is a synthetic opioid that first appeared in Toronto in fall 2025. It is thought to be 10 times stronger than fentanyl.
